This garden is in need of a face lift and re-condition rather than a total re-design, as the existing shape, structure and planting is essentially good The existing paving and block bin-store will be removed and a new patio constructed from random lay Indian Sandstone edged with multi-red paving bricks laid in its place. A 4m diameter circle of Indian Sandstone edged with multi-red bricks will be laid in the bottom left corner of the space, with a gravel path bounded on both sides with low railway sleeper beds running from the paved circle along the left hand side of the space to a utility area in the top left corner. The gravel path will be punctuated by four planters constructed from large bore concrete pipe.
The existing summerhouse will be reconditioned and repositioned to make it more integral with the garden proper. A semi-circular gravel hard standing edged with paving bricks will be constructed around the entrance to the summer house to allow easy access from the lawn.
The existing flora will be shaped, thinned and conditioned. A selection of new plants will be introduced to augment the existing planting and add variation in leaf colour, foliage and form. All beds will be dressed with a bark chip mulch to reduce weed growth and enhance their appearance. The lawn will be re-shaped and given extra definition with a margin of multi-red paving bricks.
Family-oriented fun will be provided with the addition of a willow igloo in the bottom right corner of the garden, and a vegetable patch and green house will encourage interest in plants and cultivation.
