The Room onto the Garden
|
The focus of this design was to create an exterior space that serves as an extension to the interior, featuring several distinct and versatile areas that can be adapted to a variety of uses. Western Red Cedar decking provides a comfortable patio with a warm appearance. A fixed-bench seat planted with fragrant lavender and capped with 'bamboo' slate tile gives the main decked patio a sense of enclosure and separation from the rest of the garden. A decked walkway leads to a secluded 'spa' area which allows for intimate bathing throughout the seasons. |

The roof top garden
|
This design seeks to update and improve the existing split-level roof terrace, maximising the use of the limited space to create a funky, urban roof garden that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Concrete and metal feature strongly in the design with a minimum of visible timber to reflect the client's dislike of wood and wooden products. |

The Summer House Garden
|
The overall layout of this sub-urban garden was not changed. The existing paving and block bin-store was removed and a new patio constructed from random lay Indian Sandstone. A gravel path, punctuated by four planters constructed from large bore concrete pipe, lead to the existing summerhouse, which was reconditioned and repositioned to make it more integral with the garden proper. |

The Office Garden |
This design splits the garden into distinct zones, using a mixture of contrasting materials including sandstone paving, railway sleepers, hoggin, hardwood decking and stainless steel mesh, to create a diverse space with plenty of interest. Provision has been made for storage, dining, and play for the children in the family. A large garden office takes pride of place in the centre of the space. |

The Terraced Garden |
This design splits this sloped garden into three separate flat terraces to enable the elderly client to get around it more easily. A large deck in the centre of the space gives plenty of room to place a table and chairs, while a raised bed on the upper terrace allows the client, who is a keen gardener, to plant vegetables without needing to bend down. |
