This family house in Blackheath had a very large front garden and a much smaller rear garden. The clients have lived here for many years and with children in their late teens the garden space both individually and as a family. Having visited Turkey and Morocco on several occasions throughout the years, the clients were keen to create a garden with Moroccan influences garden.
The main garden and sideway features cool mint fossil sandstone flooring, with a Moroccan stone rug inlay in the centre of the space providing a focal point from the patio doors. Newly rendered walls, painted a soft terracotta colour, frame the garden, helping to impart a light and airy Mediterranean feel.
To the right of the space a circular, mosaic-topped table, served by eight wrought iron chairs with removable cushions, provide ample opportunity for alfresco dining.
A large, four-poster style, L-shaped day bed was constructed in the left hand corner of the garden. Comprising a railway sleeper base, decking floor and timber posts with overhead beams, this structure allows ample room for lounging and relaxation. The garden’s decorative finishing touches are designed to increase the overall sense of lavishness. A Moroccan mosaic water feature takes pride of place on the rear wall opposite the patio doors lends the garden the refreshing murmur of gently falling water.
We were initially attracted to Earth Designs by their informative and highly creative web-site. Katrina's design for our garden and Matt's execution did not disappoint: we are now the proud owners of the most beautiful riad in South-East London, which looks stunning both by day and by night. We look forward to spending many happy years relaxing and entertaining in our oasis of tranquillity.
