Earth Designs was formed by Katrina Wells in Spring 2003. Katrina has been a keen gardener since childhood and worked as a florist for many years. After graduating from university in 1998 with a degree in Creative Arts, Katrina went to work as a producer for a prestigious design and events company based in London's West End. She left in 2002 and decided to couple her love and knowledge of gardening with her creative skills and experience of event management. Earth Designs was born. During the past 5 years Katrina and her husband Matt have grown Earth Designs into a successful company with over 150 designs and 50 builds under their belt. As Creative Director, Katrina will usually be the first person you meet from the Earth Designs team. Unlike many other garden designers, she has a hands-on, dynamic style allowing the client to become very much a part of the design process. On paper she will work your garden into a magical place before handing it over to the rest of the team to implement the design. In 2005, Katrina was a finalist in the ‘Young Designer of the Year’ category at the NHA awards. As Operations Director, Matt manages projects from contractual stage to completion - co-ordinating all contractors, suppliers and staff on-site and acting as the first port of call for the client. At any one time Matt could be overseeing up to 3 site managers on different sites. He has constructed or overseen over 50 full build projects and has developed a good working knowledge of most aspects of garden construction, including material selection, construction techniques and on-site problem solving. Earth Designs has six other employees on site and in the studio. Our on-site team will usually consist of a Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager and 1 or 2 landscape gardeners. Work undertaken 'in-house' includes hard and soft garden landscaping, structural design, lighting design and water features.
